Women's Track and Field Compete at Ashland University Alumni Open

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the Ashland University Alumni Open inside Dwight Schar Athletic Complex. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Freshman Cori Wentz (Mansfield / Ontario) placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:11.98.
  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Maddie Miller (Medina) placed 22nd in the 1500-meter run in a time of 5:09.93 and 29th in the 800-meter run in 2:33.06. 
  • Sophomore Kamaria Montgomery (Louisville / Canton GlenOak) finished 16th in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.07 and 39th in the 800-meter run in 2:44.13. 

 Field event highlights:

  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) placed ninth in shot put with a distance of 39' 7¾".
  • Freshmen Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) placed 25th in hammer throw with a mark of 122' 9"
  • Freshmen Karah Boesel (Nova / Mapleton) finished 19th in javelin throw with a distance of 75' 8".
  • Sophomore Selena Shelley (Mentor) finished 23rd in discus throw with a mark of 107' 11". 
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) placed 10th in high jump with a height of 4' 11" and placed 17th in long jump with a distance of 15' 5".

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Thursday, May 5th when it hosts the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships inside George Finnie Stadium.
