Women's Track and Field Sit at Fourth After Day One at OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio -  The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team hosts the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships inside George Finnie Stadium. BW is currently in Fourth after day one with 21 points.  Currently sitting in first is John Carroll University with 88 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Senior All-American Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) is a back to back OAC champion in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:57.67, earning her fourth OAC outdoor honors.
  • Junior Academic All-OAC selection Maddie Miller (Medina) placed seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:50.91.
  • Sophomore All-OAC Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) finished eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:03.47
  • Freshmen Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) finished 13th in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 41:08.78. 

 Field event highlights:

  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) placed 14th in the javelin throw with a distance of 82' 5".
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) ninth in the long jump with a distance of 16' 3".
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) placed ninth in discus throw with a distance of 116' 8". 

 On the Relay Side:

  • The All-OAC 4x800 meter team of sophomore All-OAC Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester), Laughner, junior Academic All-OAC selection Maddie Miller (Medina) and sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) placed third in a time of 9:35.70, all adding another OAC honor to their career.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Friday May 6th for the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships. Field events start at 11am and running events at 3pm.
