WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team completed the sweep of its men and women's doubleheader with a 1-0 overtime win against Waynesburg (Pa.) University in the John F. Wiley Stadium.

BW (7-2) improved its record to a perfect 5-0 in all-time matchups against Waynesburg (2-6), while also extending its current win streak to four games.

BW won the shots on goal and corner kick battles in the first half 5-3 and 5-0, respectively. While treathening scoring opportunities may have been lacking on both sides, BW controlled possession for the majority of the frame and played sound defense to keep the game scoreless.

Both teams' defenses continued their stellar play in the second half, limiting opposing attacks by frequently blocking shots and closing vulnerable gaps of thru-balls opportunities. BW once again led the shots on goal category 4-2 but still could not find the back of the net. The game remained in a scoreless tie at the end of regulation.

BW was relentless on the attack in the first overtime period, peppering Waynesburg with three shots in the first five minutes and consistently hovering in scoring territory. With 24 seconds remaining in the first overtime, tonight's battle of the Yellow Jackets found itself a hero. BW junior defender Cydney Granneman (Avon, Ind.) jumped on a ball that was bouncing around in a hectic scramble in front of the opposition's net, and buried the game winner for her first ever collegiate goal.

BW senior goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) allowed no goals on five shots faced, improving her record to a perfect 7-0 on the season. She also earned her sixth shutout of the season and the 18th for her career.

BW returns to the pitch on Tuesday, September 24 when it takes on Grove City (Pa.) College in a non-conference matchup on Tressel Field in the George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
