UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The fifth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team saw its 2019 season come to an end, as it lost its Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals matchup to crosstown rival and fourth-seeded John Carroll University by a final score of 3-0 in Don Shula Stadium.

Tonight's match marked BW's (11-9-1, 4-4-1 OAC) first postseason contest against John Carroll (10-6-3, 5-3-1 OAC) since 1992. Riding a hot streak of five consecutive unbeaten contests to close out the regular season and clinch a postseason berth, Yellow Jackets saw its string of must-win contests snapped in disheartening fashion.

The first half had begun with a relatively cautious tone for both squads, as ball possession lingered in non-threatening areas for the majority of the opening 20 minutes. The Blue Streaks were the first team to shake off its postseason jitters, as it exploded for three goals in the remainder of the first half. First, in the 24th minute, John Carroll senior Jaclyn Audino controlled a cross in the box, then made a drop pass to freshman Grace Monnin who scored on a shot that found the bottom left corner of the net. The Blue Streaks then extended their lead to 2-0 in the 42nd minute, when junior Claudia Lenhart headered in a corner-kick taken by junior Casey Lindstrom. With just 37 seconds remaining in the period, and less than three minutes later, Lindstrom picked up her second corner-kick assist of the game when her attempt found unguarded sophomore Kennedy Newhart for the header and the 3-0 cushiony lead.

Despite its relentless pursuit of a first goal, BW had trouble penetrating through the sturdy John Carroll defense and only mustered one lengthy shot on goal in the second half. The Yellow Jackets reluctantly watched its 2019 campaign dwindle away as time expired.

BW senior goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) made three saves on six shots faced, and saw her record drop to 11-7-1 in her last ever collegiate game.
