UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team battled crosstown rival John Carroll University to a 1-1 draw in Don Shula Stadium.

With its draw, BW (8-8-1, 1-4-1 OAC) jumped into a three-way tie for the last playoff spot in the OAC standings, with just three games remaining in the regular season.

John Carroll (7-5-3, 3-2-1 OAC) opened the scoring in the first half when senior Jaclyn Audino scored on a penalty kick in the 31st minute. The Yellow Jackets were able apply some offensive pressure with three shots on goal in the frame, and played well enough defensively to retain the deficit at one headed to the break.

BW was able to respond in the 60th minute, when freshman forward Brandi Filippi (Pickerington/North) succeeded at deflecting in her third goal of the season off a well-placed cross from junior midfielder Alex Guido (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower). With the game tied 1-1 and a valuable three points on the line, both teams were able to flirt with game-winning opportunities but ultimately 90 minutes regulation was not an ample amount of time to decide the game.

The Yellow Jackets were able to stave off the John Carroll attack in the first overtime period, as the Blue Streaks peppered three shots in the 10-minute period. The second overtime period presented more of a possessive tone as both teams kept plays simple and took upon fewer risks. 110 minutes proved to be an insufficient amount of time to declare a victor, as time expired and the match concluded in a draw.

BW senior goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) made nine saves on 10 shots faced, and recorded her first draw of the season. Tonight's game brought her season record to 8-6-1.

The Yellow Jackets return to the pitch on Saturday, October 26, when they host a vital OAC matchup against Wilmington College at 7:00 p.m. on Tressel Field.
