BW Women's Basketball Team Advances to NCAA Tourney at Hope (Mich.)

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team, 21-7 overall, has been selected to play in the 2009 NCAA Division III National Tournament against Pitt-Greensburg (Pa.) College, 24-2 overall, on Friday, March 6 in Holland, Michigan at host Hope College.  Hope, 25-1 overall, plays Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College, 24-4, in the other Great Lakes Region semifinal game. The winners play in the regional championship game on Saturday, March 7 at Hope.
 
This is BW's 11th trip to the NCAA tourney in the past 14 years. The Yellow Jackets have advanced to the "Elite 8" of the tourney three times (2000, 2001 and 2006).  Head Coach Cheri Harrer will take a 395-136 record into that game.
 
BW is led in scoring by sophomore guard Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) at 13.6 points-per-game. Junior 6'2" center Ariel Brough (Powell/ Olentangy-Liberty) is the top rebounder at 7.2 rpg. and has a school career-record 168 blocked shots, including a single-season school-record 78 this season.
