Baldwin Wallace Ranked No. 1 in Women's DIII News Preseason Top 25

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Baldwin Wallace University's women's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the 2008 Women's DIII News Preseason Top 25. The announcement was made in the publication's special Preseason Preview issue, which was released earlier today.

BW (27-3) returns nine of the 12 players who rotated last season en route to the OAC title and the 10th NCAA berth in the past 13 seasons. A strong recruiting class adds to the Yellow Jackets' depth. Senior three-time All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC point guard Amanda Mondrach leads the team.

"After our research, we felt Baldwin Wallace had the depth and experience to be one of the favorites this season in women's Division III basketball," said WDIIIN editor Gary Rubin. "Any one of our top five teams realistically could have been the top pick but we went with Baldwin Wallace because it plays in a tough conference, has a host of returnees back and has the experience that is necessary to be a national favorite."

Right behind in second is UAA power Washington University, followed by Oglethorpe, The College of New Jersey and DeSales.

The second five features Wisconsin Whitewater, Southern Maine, Kean, Rochester and Thomas More.

The Preseason Player of the Year is NYU senior Jessica McEntee.
