Men's Swimming & Diving Takes Sixth at Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN, OHIO  – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team finished sixth atthe three-day Oberlin College Invitational in the Carr Pool inside the Philips Physical Education Center.

BW was sixth of 12 teams with 554.5 points.  Penn State Behrend College was the champion with 1,287.5 points.  

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman diver Zachary Pierce (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) as he won both the 1-meter and 3-diving events with total points of 4:15.25 and 377.50, respectively.

In addition, sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Michael Lewis (Lancaster) placed third in the 200-yard individual medley, fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke and fifth in the 400-yard individual medley in times of 1:55.97, 58.11 seconds and 4:16.61, respectively. 

Also,  junior stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) took seventh in the 200-yard backstroke in a time 2:02.31.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley team of Morsch, Lewis, senior All-OAC performer Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) and junior Academic All-OAC performer Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) finished in a time of 1:37.65.  The 200-yard free unit of Butt, Morsch, freshman stroker Austin Olsavsky (Medina) and Lewis sixth in a time of 1:31.23.  The 400-yard medley squad of Morsch, Lewis, Shaw and Olsavsky took sixth in a time of 3:39.58.  The 800-yard medley quad of Butt, Morsch, Olsavsky and Lewis were fourth in a time of 7:15.59. 

BW is back in action Wednesday, December 18 when it takes on Randolph-Macon (Va.) College in a non-conference dual meet during its annual winter break straining trip at the Arlington Park Aquatic Center in Sarasota, Florida.
