Men's Swimming and Diving Drops OAC Dual to Mount Union

­­ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

BW (1-2, 1-1 OAC) fell to Mount Union by a final score of 149-101.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore All-OAC stroker Michael Lewis (Lancaster) who won two events. Lewis captured the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke in times of 2:00.21 and 1:00.42, respectively.

Also picking up a victory was senior All-OAC performer Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) and freshman diver Zach Pierce (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) who finished first in the 100-yard butterfly and one-meter diving events, respectively. Shaw was the top finisher with a final time of 23.72 and Pierce scored a victorious 153.5 points.

In relay action, the Yellow Jackets competed in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle. BW's medley participants of junior stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory), LewisShaw, and junior Academic All-OAC performer Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) combined for a third place finish and a final time of 1:41.17. The Yellow Jackets' freestyle freshmen participants of Austin Olsavsky (Medina), Nathan Massey (Columbus/Centennial), Austin Wharton (New Albany, Lincoln), Immanuel Ayangoke (Jacksonville, Fla./Bolles Academy) also finished third in 1:36.83.

BW is back in the pool tomorrow as it travels to Eria, Pennsylvania to take on Pennsylvania State University at Behrend at 1:00 p.m. in the Hammond Natatorium.
