AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace freshman Zachary Pierce (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Diver of the Week for the first time in his career.
Pierce earns his first weekly accolade after winning four diving events and having two qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Diving Championships in BW's final two OAC regular season dual meets last week.
Pierce opened the weekend by winning both the 1-meter five-dive and 1-meter six-dive events against Ohio Northern University on Friday night. He captured the the 1-meter five-dive event with a career-best total of 223.0 points and the 1-meter six-dive event with a total of 237.60. The combined total points were an NCAA 1-meter 11-dive qualifying mark. Pierce closed out the week by winning the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events on Saturday on the road against crosstown rival John Carroll University. He took the 1-meter event with a total of with a career-best total of 285.25 points and the 3-meter event with an NCAA qualifying total points of 282.85.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they close out the home portion of their schedule when they host a non-conference and Seniors' Day dual meet against the College of Wooster at 1 p.m.
BW hosts the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday-Saturday, February 13-15 at the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron. Preliminary action begins each day at 10 a.m. with finals to be held each night at 6 p.m.
