Men’s Swimming and Diving Finishes Fourth at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team set two school records and finished in fourth place on the third and final day of competition at the OAC Championships hosted by Wilmington College in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW finished fourth of five teams with 310 points.  The Yellow Jackets finished fourth for the second straight year. John Carroll University won its third straight championship with 985 points.

The top three individuals and the top two relay teams earn All-OAC honors.

Sophomore stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:58.61.  Morsch broke a 25-year old school record in the prelims of the 200-backstroke when he posted a time of 1:57.47.  During the three-day event, he set two school records, including the 100-yard backstroke on three separate occasions.  Freshman diver Tanner Elenbaas (Aurora, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley) placed fifth in the 1-meter and 11-dive event with a career-best total of 314.60. Junior All-OAC stroker Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) set the school-record in the 200-yard butterfly as he finished in sixth place with a time of 1:57.73.  Junior All-OAC diver Evan Rinaldi (Cleveland/Cleveland Heights) was sixth in the 1-meter and 11-dive event with a career-best total points of 308.5. Freshman stroker Michael Lewis (Lancaster) took seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:11.32.  Lewis set a career-best during the prelims with a time of 2:08.92. Sophomore freestyler Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 48.48 seconds.

In relay action, the 400-yard freestyle squad of Lewis, Butt, Shaw and Morsch took fourth in a time of 3:14.48.
