Men's Swimming Splashes Past Bethany (W. Va.) in 2018 Finale

BETHANY, W.VA. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming team ended the 2018 portion of its schedule as it defeated Bethany (Va.) College in a non-conference dual meet in the John J. Knight Natatorium.

BW (3-3 overall) won nine of 11 events contested. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon) and freshman stroker Michael Lewis (Lancaster) as the duo each won a pair of races.  Allison won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle in times of 23.28 and 52.28 seconds respectively.  Lewis took home victories in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:18.67 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:07.89.

Also earning victories were senior stroker John Beyer (Columbus/Centennial), sophomore freestyler Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), sophomore stroker Kyle Cordrey (Mansfield/Ontario) Beyer claimed the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:41.25.  Butt earned the victory in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:55.91.  Cordrey touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:16.78.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams earned the wins in times of 1:45.73 and 8:11.00. 

BW is now idle until 2019.   The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, January 11 when it travels to Canton for a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the C.T. Branin Natatorium at 6 p.m.
