WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team kicked off the 2022 season with a 2-1 nonconference win over The College of Wooster on the Carl Dale Field.
BW (1-0) Leaders
- Junior forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) scored one goal.
- Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) also contributed a goal.
- Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) picked up the lone assist.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/ St. Edward) picked up 10 saves on 11 shots.
Wooster (0-1) Leaders
- Senior forward Moody Saadi picked up the lone goal.
- Senior defender Jack Whithouse contributed the assist on the goal.
- Jason Prather picked up six saves on eight shots.
First Half (1-0 BW)
- The lone score of the half came up Tusick as he dribbled past the keeper and placed into the back of the net off an assist from Yakym.
- The Yellow Jackets led the half with six saves compared to the Fighting Scots three.
- BW made the most of its chances with one goal on five shots compared to the Wooster 11 shots and no shots.
Second Half (2-1 BW)
- The Yellow Jackets once again got the board first as Surowicz scored the contested goal right over the keeper's hands.
- The Fighting Scots responded with a quick goal as Saadi scored off a Whitehouse assist.
- BW proved to be more effective on their chances once again as they scored one goal on eight assists compared to Wooster who scored one goal on 11 shots.
- The Yellow Jackets once again led the half in saves with four.
- The squads tied the half with four corner kicks a piece.
BW returns to action on Saturday, September 3 with their home opener against nonconference opponent Chatham (Pa.) University. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
