BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer picked up a nonconference victory over Chatham (Pa.) University in their home opener on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
BW Leaders (2-0)
- Freshman midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) picked up his first career goal.
- Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) picked up his second goal of the season.
- Freshman midfielder Abdullah Mohammad (Parma/Bard Early College) picked up his career assist.
- Freshman midfielder Michael Giganti (Uniontown/Lake) picked up his first career goal
- Sophomore midfielder ElHadj Bah (Hillard/Westerville
- Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) led with three saves
Chatham Leaders (0-1-1)
- Sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Rose led with eight saves.
First Half (BW 2-0)
- Reyes opened up the scoring in the 42' with a goal off a throw in by Mohammad.
- Surowicz was able to beat the keeper off his own rebound with just 30 seconds remaining in the half to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead.
- The BW defense locked down the Cougars offense as they were half to no shots in the half.
- The Yellow Jackets led the half with two corner kicks.
Second Half (BW 3-0)
- Giganti scored the lone goal of the half in the 89' off a feed from Bah.
- BW led the half with 12 shots and held Chatham to four shots.
- Nagy picked up three saves in the half.
- The Yellow Jackets led the half with five corner kicks.
BW returns to action on Thursday, September 8 as it hosts a nonconference game against Geneva (Pa.) College at 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
