Men’s Soccer Cruises Past Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Heidelberg University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 5-0 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. 

BW (11-3-2, 2-3-1 OAC) Leaders

  • Five players scored a goal each for the Yellow Jackets.
  • Junior Forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) recorded two assists.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) and senior goalkeeper Nolan Kellogg (Strongsville) had one save each.

Heidelberg (0-14-1, 0-6 OAC) Leaders

  • Sigurd Ilestad recorded 12 saves

First Half (BW 3-0)

  • The Yellow Jackets were on the board quickly when freshman midfielder Ethan Corsi (Canal Fulton/Massillon Jackson) scored off an assist from senior forward Shaheen Ghahremani (Streetsboro) at the 1:30 mark.
  • Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) followed up quickly with another goal for BW.
  • Junior midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) closed out the half with a third goal for the Yellow Jackets, off an assist from Tusick.

Second Half (BW 2-0)

  • 10 minutes into the second half, senior midfielder Dylan Keeling (Rocky River) sent the ball into the back of the net, assisted by Yakym.
  • At the 77:44-mark Tusick made a pass to senior midfielder Kyle Eddy (Lewis Center/Olentagy), who scored the fifth and final goal for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 22nd when they travel to Westerville to take on OAC opponent Otterbein University at 2:00 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.
