Men’s Soccer Cruises Past Thiel (Pa.)

GREENSVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team cruised past Thiel (Pa.) College in a non-conference game by a final score of 3-1 on the Stoeber Field inside Alumni Stadium.

BW Leaders (4-0-1)

  • Sophomore defender Nick Young (Wadsworth) scored his first career goal and registered his career assist.
  • Freshman midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) scored a goal for his second goal of the season.
  • Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) scored one goal for his third goal of the season.

Thiel Leaders (0-5-1)

  • Chase Yopp scored a goal.
  • Noah Brieck led with three saves.

First Half (3-0, BW)

  • Young got the scoring action started early as he scored his goal before the five-minute mark.
  • Reyes responded quickly with a goal five minutes later off an assist by Young.
  • Yakym added one last goal in the half as he floated one right over the goalkeeper's head.
  • The Yellow Jacket offense was on display as they took 11 shots to the Tomcats two shots.
  • BW limited Thiel to zero corner kick opportunities and the Yellow Jackets took five of their own.
  • The Tomcats led the half with four saves. 

Second Half (3-1, BW)

  • Yopp scored the lone goal of the half to get Thiel on the board.
  • BW led with nine shots compared to the Tomcats four shots.
  • Thiel led the half with five saves.
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half with three corner kick opportunities.

BW is back in action on Thursday, September 15 when they host a non-conference game against Defiance College at 6:15 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
