Men’s Soccer Knocks of Allegheny (Pa.) on the Road

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Allegheny (Pa.) College by a final score of 4-1 at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.  

BW Leaders (3-0-1)

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) led with five saves.
  • Junior forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) led with two assists.
  • Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) scored his first career goal. 
  • Junior midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) picked up his first goal of the season.
  • Freshman defender Mike Kane (Kent/Hudson) scored his first career goal. 
  • Freshman midfielder Ethan Corsi (Canal Fulton/Massillon Jackson) also scored his first career goal. 

Allegheny Leaders (0-3)

  • Gabe Anthony recorded five saves in the game. 
  • Cliff Weaver scored the lone goal for Allegheny.

First Half (BW 1-0)

  • Yakym opened up the scoring in the 41' with a goal off a cross from Tusick.
  • Each team had one corner kick in the half.
  • Both teams had equal scoring opportunities with BW getting six shots and Allegheny seven. 
  • Nagy picked up four saves in the half. 

Second Half (BW 4-1)

  • Kieres scored off a pass from Tusick to give BW a 2-0 lead in the 46'.
  • At the 73' senior midfielder Dylan Keeling (Rocky River) crossed the ball from the far side finding Kane who placed it into the net putting the Yellow Jackets at a 3-0 lead. 
  • Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) lofted a cross to Corsi who placed the ball low in the net at the 83' for a 4-0 BW lead. 
  • With one minute left in the game, Weaver scores the lone goal for Allegheny. 
  • The Yellow Jackets led with three corners to Allegheny's two. 

The Yellow Jackets return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 13th when they travel to Greenville, Pa. to face Thiel College in a non-conference match on Stoeber Field inside the Alumni Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
