Men’s Soccer Knocks Off Bluffton in Final Non-Conference Game

Bluffton, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team knocked off Bluffton University in their final non-conference game by a score of 3-1 at the Sears Complex.

BW Leaders (9-0-1)

  • Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) led the team with two goals and he now an Ohio Athletic Conference leading 10 goals on the season. He also added one assist.
  • Freshman defender/forward Mike Kane (Kent/Hudson) was tied for the team lead with one assist for his first assist of his career.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) led with six saves.

Bluffton Leaders (2-3-3)

  • Elijah Zimmerman scored the lone goal.
  • Angel Velasco-Urbina led with seven saves.

First Half (1-0, BW)

  • Surowicz got the scoring started with a goal off an assist from Kane.
  • BW had a slightly advantage in shots as it took seven shots and Bluffton took six shots.
  • The Beavers led the half with three saves.
  • Both teams had one corner kick opportunity.

Second Half (3-1, BW)

  • Bluffton tied the game up off a goal from Zimmerman.
  • Surowicz regained the lead for the Yellow Jackets off his own rebound.
  • Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) extended the BW lead off an assist from Surowicz.
  • Both teams took 10 shots in the second half.
  • The Yellow Jackets had six saves and the Beavers had five saves.
  • BW led the half with seven corner kicks.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 1 when they host Marietta College to open OAC play at 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.
