Men’s Soccer Completes Soccer Doubleheader Sweep of Waynesburg (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer knocked off non-conference opponent Waynesburg (Pa.) College by a final score of 4-0 on the Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium. The victory completed the doubleheader sweep for BW soccer. 

BW (4-3) got things going quickly. Just 10 seconds into the game, BW held a 1-0 lead after sophomore forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) got one past the keeper. BW continued that aggression again finding the back of the net just seven minutes later. Sophomore midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) got BW the 2-0 lead as he put the ball in the back of the net. BW outshot Waynesburg (1-4) by a mark of 9-4. BW took the 2-0 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, BW continued to stay aggressive again outshooting Waynesburg by a mark of 14-4. This led to another good offensive half for BW. Freshman midfielder Tommy Buser (Akron/Revere) got the lead up to 3-0 when he rifled one past the keeper. BW added one more as Kieres got his second goal of the day in the 66 minute. BW maintained the lead and walked away with a 4-0 victory.  

In the net for BW, getting the start was junior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Matt Weaver (Ontario) who five shots on the five shots he faced. Junior goalkeeper JT Brenneman (Willoughby/Wickliffe) got into the action and made one save on the one shot he faced.

BW is back in action on Sunday, September 19 when they Olivet (Mich.) College on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
