BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team finished in a draw against Oberlin in a non-conference match with a final score of 2-2 on the Tressel Field in the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (6-4-1) was able to attack with the first six shots of the game. With the fifth shot, sophomore midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) was able to score off a corner kick. Kieres took the corner kick and found the back of the net to give BW an advantage 15 minutes into the game. Oberlin (3-5-2) was able to tie things up before halftime. In the 41-minute, sophomore midfielder Anthony Commissaris was able to find the back of the net. The Yellow Jackets ended the half with an advantage in shots by a mark of 8-6.

With the first shot of the half for BW, junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Zach Hoover (Chagrin Falls) sent a shot into the box and after a deflection off an Oberlin player it found the back of the net. The Yellow Jackets maintained their aggression on offense on offense, finishing the half with a 12-5 advantage in shots. With five minutes left in the game, the Yeomen received a penalty kick, and they were able to finish. Senior forward Nic Jandeleit got the penalty to go and tied things up at 2-2 as overtime was looming.

In the first overtime both teams played in the midfield. Each team took one shot in the period and neither shot was on target. The battle for possession continued throughout the 10 minutes and the teams went into a second overtime. The BW offense got the advantage again in the second overtime. They lead in shots against Oberlin by a mark of 3-1. Sophomore midfielder Alex Gibson (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) got a great look at goal; however, the keeper was able to make a play and recorded the save. The Yeomen got one last look in the waning seconds, but junior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Matt Weaver (Ontario) made the huge save to end things in a tie.

In the net, for the Yellow Jackets was Weaver who made three saves on the five shots he faced.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 2 as they host Capital University to open OAC play on the Tressel Field in the George Finnie Stadium.
