RICHMOND, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Earlham College by a final score of 6-2 inside Matlack-Messer Stadium.

BW (5-4) came out fast when freshman midfielder Tommy Buser (Akron / Revere) took a shot on goal three minutes into the match, but it went high. The Yellow Jackets worked on creating opportunities in front of the net, but Earlham (0-7) was the first on the board with a goal at the eight minute mark. About five minutes later, Earlham extended their lead with another goal. BW worked hard over the following ten minutes, having four shots on goal but none were successful. At 27 minutes, sophomore midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) took a corner kick for the Yellow Jackets, which was buried in the net by senior defender Trevor Hamm.(Strongsville). Kieres then tied up the score with a goal of his own at 31 minutes. Seven minutes later, BW took the lead when Hamm scored off of another corner kick from Kieres. The half ended with BW leading 3-2.

Six minutes into the second half, BW earned a penalty kick which was placed in the net by Kieres. Immediately following the kickoff, sophomore forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) scored a fifth goal for BW. Throughout the remainder of the half, Earlham made multiple attempts to catch up in score. However, BW wrapped up the match with a final goal from junior forward Shaheen Ghahremani (Streetsboro) with ten seconds left in the match. BW took the victory with a final score of 6-2.

In the net for the Yellow Jackets was junior goalkeeper Matt Weaver (Ontario) who had two saves on the four shots he faced. Also in the goal for BW was junior goalkeeper Nolan Kellogg (Strongsville) who recorded one save on the one shot he faced.

BW is back on the field on Tuesday, September 28th when they host Oberlin College for a non-conference match at 7:00 P.M. on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
