Men’s Soccer Drops to Marietta in Season Finale and Seniors' Night Game

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer dropped their season finale and Seniors' Night game in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest against Marietta College by a final score of 2-0 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium. Their season came to an end as they missed the OAC Tournament.

Before tonight's game BW (6-12-2, 0-8-1 OAC) honored their five senior student athletes, forward Matt Begin (Springfield, Mass./Ludlow), midfielder Jason Lambert (Baden, Pa./Ambridge), midfielder Attila Nagy Jr. (Lakewood), forward Peter Petri (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA/Senator O'Connor), and defender Reed Watkins (Munster, Ind.). The team also recognized senior student assistant coach Steve Fore.

As the game began and the rain started to fall, both teams looked to gain control. The first half was a battle in the midfield with little chances for both teams. The Yellow Jackets managed to put the only shot on goal with a great opportunity. However, Marietta (7-6-4, 4-2-3 OAC) was able to take the most shots by a mark of 4-2. The battle ended with the game scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, the opportunities increased for both teams. Both teams got five shots off throughout the half. However, it was BW with the most shots on goal by a mark of 3-2. However, it was the Pioneers that got the goals. They scored two goals on both their shots on goals. Forward Austin Hilt scored both goals for Marietta. Which proved to be the only two goals of the game.

In the goal, for the Yellow Jackets was freshman goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) who faced two shots.
