BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Alleghany (Pa.) College in a non-conference match by final score of 1-0 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium in the Ohio Athletic Conference and North Coast Athletic Conference Shootout.

The Yellow Jackets came out hot, immediately putting pressure on the Gator's defense and drawing a corner kick just 43 seconds into the half. Sophomore midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) took the kick which was headed high over the goal by senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland). Alleghany's (1-2) first opportunity came at the 16-minute mark with a shot from senior forward Nicholas Taliani, but it went high. BW (2-2) kept up intensity, as they won battles in the midfield and created opportunities at the net, outshooting Alleghany 11-3. However, neither team was able to put points on the board, ending the half at a 0-0 tie.

BW's offense wasted no time, getting their first shot off a minute into the half. They continued to press Alleghany's defensive line until finally, after ten minutes Kieres  was able to loft a ball into the upper right corner of the net. The Gator's offense pressed for opportunities on goal, but the Yellow Jackets defense held strong. BW continued to win balls in the offense, racking up a total eight shots for the half but were not able to capitalize. BW took the victory 1-0.

the net for the Yellow Jackets was freshman goalie Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) who made two saves on the two shots he faced.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 11 when they travel to Granville for a match-up against Denison University at 7:00 p.m. in the final match of the OAC and NCAC Shootout.
