Men’s Soccer Drops Close Game to Crosstown Rival John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped an OAC game to crosstown rival John Carroll University by a final score of 2-1 on the Wasmer Field in the Don Shula Stadium.

John Carroll (8-3-3, 5-0-1 OAC) got the offense started with a shot 30 seconds into the game. BW (6-9-2, 0-5-1 OAC) was able to get their first and only shot of the half a few minutes later. The Yellow Jackets lost the shots advantage in the first half but was able to stop everything that get sent way, with three saves in the half. The teams remained scoreless as they went into the half.

The offense for both teams picked up in the second half, with both teams getting better looks. In the 52 minute, the Blue Streaks were the first to get on the board. With a goal coming by the way of freshman midfielder James Hoover. Both teams continued to battle, and BW was the next team to get a goal. They were able to tie things up in the 85 minute, with a goal by freshman midfielder Tommy Buser (Akron/Revere). Buser put himself in a great position and he deflected the ball into the back of the net. Two minutes later, John Carroll hit the back of the net again with a goal coming from senior All-OAC defender Benjamin Hryszko who gave the Blue Streaks a 2-1 lead and the victory.

In the net for the Yellow Jackets was freshman goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) who made six saves on the eight shots he faced.

BW returns to action on Saturday, October 23 when it hosts Wilmington College in an OAC game on the Tressel Field in the George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
