Men’s Soccer Drops OAC Match to Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference game to Ohio Northern University by a final score of 2-0 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (6-6-1, 0-2 OAC) got out to a slow start in the game. The Yellow Jackets back line felt pressure throughout the game. Ohio Northern (6-4-2, 1-1 OAC) broke through early 10 minutes into the game when senior Academic All-OAC defender Cameron Picard put one past the keeper. The Polar Bears got one more to go in the 43 minute when freshman forward Trevor Tabb put a shot on that just snuck into the back of the net. Throughout the half, BW faced 15 shots and they were able to block a good percentage of those shots. The Yellow Jackets trailed 2-0 heading into the halftime.

BW continued to face pressure in the second half. Ohio Northern kept pushing and got off 14 shots. Again, a large portion of those shots got blocked by the Yellow Jackets defense. Neither team was able to capitalize on the opportunities in the second half and the game finished 2-0 for the Polar Bears.

In the net for BW was junior Academic All-OAC Matt Weaver (Ontario) who had nine saves on the 11 shots he faced.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, October 9 when they travel to Westerville to take on Otterbein in an OAC Match in Memorial Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
