Men’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped to non-conference opponent Denison University in the final match of the OAC and NCAC Shootout by a final score of 3-0 on the Barclay-Thomsen Field.

Denison (3-1) got out to a fast start, putting a lot of pressure on the BW (2-3) back line. In the half, the Big Red outshoot the Yellow Jackets by a mark of 10-2. Denison got the scoring underway just under 12 minutes into the game. Freshmen midfielder Cameron McIntosh put one just over the keeper's hand to give them the lead. Six minutes later, junior forward Ethan Miracle found the back of the net to extend the Big Red lead to 2-0. The Yellow Jackets were able to get two shots at the back end of the half but couldn't capitalize.

BW began the second half much more aggressive. Leading to seven shots throughout the half. Sophomore midfielder Julian Kieres (Lakewood) led the team with five total shots, with three being in the second half. Both teams had great chances to score in the half, including a few shots off the bar and post. Then with four minutes remaining in the game, McIntosh got his second goal of the day to extend the Denison lead to 3-0.

In the net, junior Academic All-OAC Matt Weaver (Ontario) made six saves on the nine shots he faced.
