MARIETTA, Ohio – The fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball ended its season with a 91-66 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal loss to top-seeded, OAC regular season champion and No. 4-nationally ranked Marietta College in the Ban Johnson Arena
BW (16-11), who ends its season for the second straight year in the semifinals to Marietta (25-2), had two players score in double figures led by All-OAC guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) with a game-high 19 points. Freshman guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) added 12 points. Sophomore forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The Pioneers had four players score in double digits led by junior forward A.J. Edwards with a team-best 16 points. Senior guard Luis Garcia tallied 15 points and junior forward Jack Thome had 13. Senior forward Eddy Grenert rounded out the scoring attack with 12 points.
The Yellow Jackets took an early 11-8 first half lead when Kuhn split a pair of free throws at the 14:05 mark. Marietta responded with a 7-0 run to take a 16-11 lead on jumper by Nate Walker at 12:43. BW answered with a 5-2 run to cut the lead down to 18-16 on a three-pointer by junior guard Zack Brandy (Hudson) at the 11:45 mark.
The Pioneers used an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 29-18 when Grenert scored on a layup at 6:40. The Yellow Jackets came back with a 10-6 run to cut the lead down to 35-28 when Kuhn knocked down a trey at 1:32. Each team scored a bucket each the remainder of the half with Marietta leading 37-30 at the intermission.
The Pioneers opened the second half on a 11-4 run to extend their lead to 48-34 when Garcia knocked down a trey at the 18:02 mark. BW would come no closer as Marietta extended its lead to as many as 25 at 91-66 on three-pointer by sophomore point guard Connor McCreary with 47 seconds remaining in the contest.
