Men’s Basketball Team Beats Wilmington for Fourth Straight Win

WILMINGTON, Ohio --  Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) scored a team-high 18 points as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won its fourth straight game and topped OAC foe and host Wilmington College, 80-68, in the Fred Razik Arena. The Yellow Jackets (14-9, 9-7 OAC) are coming off of an upset win against No.3-ranked John Carroll University on Wednesday. BW has beaten Wilmington five straight times.

In addition to Kuhn, who was this week's OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for BW, sophomore forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) had his 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds and freshman guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/ Lincoln) had 12 points. Wilmington (4-17, 3-13 OAC) was led by senior forward Zach McCorkle's game-high 20 points.

In the first half, BW gained the lead for good at 5-4 when Kuhn made a layup at 16:43. The lead grew to 20-6 at 11:33 when BW completed a 12-0 run when senior Academic All-OAC guard Zach Warner (Clyde) made a three-pointer. Warner was coming off of a career-high 19-point performance with six triples in Wednesday's win versus JCU.

The BW lead grew to 34-16 at 4:37 when freshman forward Dylan Nieto (Brunswick/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) made a layup. The Quakers finished the first half on a 9-2 run to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 36-25 at halftime.

In the second half, the Quakers cut the BW lead to 44-41 at 17:01, but the Yellow Jackets went on a 9-0 run to rebuild a 53-41 advantage at 14:17 when sophomore forward Jordan Richardson (Beachwood) made a layup. After BW gained its second 12-point lead at 56-44, Wilmington had a 9-0 run to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 56-53 at 9:46.

BW responded with a 5-0 run to build a 61-53 lead at 8:38 when Kuhn made a jumper.  The Quakers cut the BW lead to five points on two separate occasions with the last at 66-61 at 5:42. The Jackets responded with eight straight points, four each from Battle and Fetherolf to lead 74-61 at 3:07 and force the Quakers to call a timeout.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 17 when BW hosts Ohio Northern University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m. Next Saturday, Feb. 20 is Parents' & Seniors' Day when BW hosts Capital University in its final regular season game at 3 p.m.
