BEXLEY, Ohio -- Freshman guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/ Lincoln) scored 17 points, but the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team lost at host Capital University, 90-79, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at the Capital Center.
In addition to Battle, for BW (8-5, 3-3 OAC), sophomore forward Mike Kaminski (Medina), sophomore All-OAC guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) had 13 and junior guard Zack Brandy (Hudson) had 11.
Capital (8-5, 4-2 OAC) was led by senior transfer Mark Minch's game-high 30 points. He was one of four Crusaders to tally double digits. Capital shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29 of 53) compared to 43.5% for the Yellow Jackets (27 of 62). The Crusaders also had a huge advantage at the foul line, attempting 43 shots compared to 18 for BW.

In the first half, BW gained an early, 6-4 lead at 17:57 when Battle canned his second straight three-pointer. Kuhn extended it to 8-4 with a jumper at 16:54. The Crusaders went on a 12-0 run to take a 16-8 lead at 13:27 when Minch canned a triple.
Capital increased its lead to 12 points on four separate occassion with the last at 36-24 with 2:13 left. BW cut the deficit to eight at 36-28 when sophomore forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) made a layup. The Yellow Jackets trailed 38-28 at halftime.
In the second half, the Crusader lead remained at eight points at 41-33 when Kaminski banged home a trey at 17:52. But Capital outscored BW 33-23 to build an 18-point advantage at 74-56 with Minch canned a three-pointer at 4:47. The closest BW would get after that point was nine points at 51.1 seconds left when Battle made a layup.
BW is back in action on Wednesday, January 13 when it hosts Heidelberg University in an OAC game in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
