SPORTS PLAYED AT BW (YEARS AND LETTERS WON): Ryan played four seasons of football and earned four varsity letters. He missed his freshman season with an injury and received a medical red-shirt.  He also served as a team captain (2011-2012).

 

ATHLETIC HONORS: Ryan was a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player (2009-2011). He also earned OAC Defensive Player of the Week honors as a senior.  As a sophomore and senior, Ryan was B-W's Outstanding Defensive Back award winner. As a senior in 2011-12, Ryan was named as B-W's Most Valuable Player to the Cleveland Touchdown Club and selected second team All-Ohio by OhioCollegeFootball.com.

GENERAL FOOTBALL INFORMATION: Ryan Dugan ended his Baldwin-Wallace College football career as one of the finest defensive backs in school history. He started at safety for four years and earned four varsity letters.  B-W compiled a 23-17 record. Individually, Ryan was a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, including a first-team choice as a senior. His 13 career interceptions ranks fifth all-time and his 46 total pass breakups (13 interceptions and 33 breakups) is fourth all-time. He ended his career with 186 tackles.

As a freshman in 2007, Ryan saw action in only two games due to injury.  He was medically red-shirted for the season.
As a red-shirt freshman in 2008, Ryan played his first season of football and earned his first varsity letter.  He immediately stepped in and made a difference in the defensive secondary as a cornerback.  Ryan appeared in all 10 games, made 41 total tackles, including two for 13 yards in losses (one quarterback sack), recovered one fumble, intercepted two passes and broke up four others. B-W finished 5-5 overall.
As a red-shirt sophomore in 2009, Ryan played his second season of football and earned his second varsity letter. He moved to safety and started eight games. He led the OAC with six interceptions despite missing the first two games of the season due to an injury. Ryan also recorded 49 tackles and six pass break-ups. For his efforts, he was named as a second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection.  Ryan also earned the Oustanding Defensive Back award for the Yellow Jackets. B-W finished 3-7 overall.
As a red-shirt junior in 2010, Ryan played his third season of football and is one of the best defensive backs in the OAC.  For his efforts on the field, Ryan earned second-team All-OAC honors.  In nine games, Ryan recorded 39 tackles, three interceptions, 11 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.  B-W finished 7-3 overall.
As a fifth-year senior in 2011, Ryan played his fourth season of football, earned his fourth varsity letter and started at safety for the fourth straight season. He led the Yellow Jacket secondary and was third on the team with 57 tackles, including a career-high 16 stops in a 20-6 victory against Ohio Northern University on Homecoming. He was named as the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. He earned first-team All-OAC honors and was selected second team All-Ohio by OhioCollegeFootball.com for his efforts and was B-W's Most Valuable Defensive Back.  B-W finished 8-2 overall.

HIGH SCHOOL HONORS, SPECIFY SPORT & YEAR: (ALL-CONFERENCE, DISTRICT,  ETC.):  Ryan was the team captain as a senion in 2006-2007.  He was also first-team All-District, special mention All-Ohio, listed in the Plain Dealer's "Best of the Best", first-team All-Lake Erie League, a Lake County News Herald first-team All-Star, and a Lake County Touchdown Club first-team All-Star.  He also played in the Ohio North-South All-Star game.  Mentor advanced to the OHSAA Divison I State Final. As a senior in 2006-2007, Ryan recorded 69 tackles, five interceptions, and 18 pass break-ups.
