Baldwin-Wallace Baseball Team Falls to Wooster, 12-3, in a Non-Conference Game

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team lost to The College of Wooster today (Tuesday, April 15) in a non-conference game by a final score of 12-3 at Heritage Field in Berea.  The game was originally scheduled to be played on March 31 but was postponed due to weather.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fell to 14-12 overall and Wooster improved to 17-10 overall .

The Fighting Scots jumped out to a big lead in the top of the second inning where they put four runs on the board. The Yellow Jackets responded quickly with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. The Scots answered back with three more runs in the top of the third inning to build a 7-1 lead. Wooster then added another run in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-1 lead, and B-W scored in the bottom of the inning to close to 8-2. The Fighting Scots scored their final four runs in the eighth and B-W added its final run in the bottom of the frame.

On the mound, freshman Jon Capadona (North Royalton) started and pitched the first two innings and took the loss to fall to 1-2 this season. He was followed to the mound by junior Chris Terlop (Strongsville) in the third, junior Josh Stobinski (Ottawa Hills) in the third, sophomore Steven Foltz (North Canton/ St. Thomas Aquinas) in the fourth, freshman Cory Waite (Willoughby/South) in the fifth, freshman Dylan Fodor (Twinsburg) in the sixth, sophomore Will Pantages (Akron/Firestone) in the seventh, freshman John Monning (Springsboro) in the eighth and sophomore Jon Tenley (Wadsworth) in the ninth.

At the plate, the Jackets were led by senior left fielder John Ulanski (Bay Villiage/Bay) who had two base hits and three at-bats with a run batted-in and a run scored. Sophomore centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria)was one-for-three with a RBI. Junior shortstop Anthony Longhitano (Cuyahoga Falls) also went one-for-three with a stolen base.

B-W is back in action tommorow Saturday, April 16 when it plays host to the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets will then travel to Tiffin to face the number-five-ranked Heidelberg University Student Princes in an OAC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m.
