CHILLICOTHE, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team swept Oberlin College in a non-conference doubleheader today (Sunday, March 20) by scores of 7-6 and 9-1 at the Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium.
With the two wins, the Yellow Jackets improve to 8-4 overall. Oberlin falls to 1-4.
In game one, BW trailed the Yeomen 7-5 entering the bottom of the seventh inning when junior catcher Anthony D'Attoma (Copley) hit a walk-off double to give BW the 7-6 victory. Freshman pitcher Dylan Fodor (Twinsburg) won his first collegiate game as he pitched two innings of relief. In addition to D'Attoma, the Yellow Jacket offense was led by junior shortstop Anthony Longhitano (Cuyahoga Falls) who went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.
In the second game, the B-W offense pounded out 13 hits and exploded for seven runs in the second inning. Sophomore Jay Yost (Bascom/Hopewell-Loudon) went 3-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored while sophomore Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria), sophomore Brendan Toughey (East Amherst, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) and junior Brent Edmonds (Olmsted Falls) all went 2-for-4 with a RBI. On the mound, sophomore Pat Havens (Twinsburg) picked up his first victory of the season as he pitched five innings while allowing just one run with four strikeouts and three walks.
B-W is back in action on Saturday, March 26 when it hosts Malone University at Heritage Field in a single nine-inning game at 1:00 p.m.
