Baldwin-Wallace Baseball Team Falls to Cross-Town Rival Case Western Reserve, 8-0

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team fell to cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University by a score of 8-0 today (Tuesday, March 29) at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fell to 10-5 overall and ended a six-game winning streak. CWRU improves to 15-10 overall.

The Spartans would strike first as they scored two runs in the first and second innings and added another run in the fourth inning to go up on the Yellow Jackets, 5-0. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Case added three insurance runs to make the final score 8-0. 

The Yellow Jackets were held to only six hits in the game as Case starter Devin Dye went seven strong innings. At the plate, the Yellow Jackets were led by senior catcher John Ulanski (Bay Village/ Bay) who was two-for-four. Sophomore third baseman Jay Yost (Bascom/Hopewell-Loudon) was 1-for-3 with a walk.
 
Sophomore pitcher David Redovian (Fairlawn/ Copley) started on the mound for the Yellow Jackets and took the loss. He went three and a third innings, striking out two, while allowing five earned runs on seven hits.  Freshman righty Jon Capadona (North Royalton) would come on in relief during the fourth inning as he pitched two and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball without allowing a hit or walk. He also struck out two Spartan hitters.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Thursday (March 31) when B-W hosts The College of Wooster at Heritage Field in a single nine-inning game at 4:00 p.m. for the home opener. B-W starts OAC action this Saturday (April 2) when they host OAC rival and fourth-ranked Marietta College in a doubleheader with the first game starting at 1:00 p.m.
