Gallavan Sets OAC Record to Lead Women's Indoor Track and Field at Day One of OAC Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio -- Senior indoor All-American and All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) set one OAC record and won one title to lead the Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team to a fourth place standing after the first day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Marietta College inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

The sixth nationally ranked Yellow Jackets, who are seeking their first OAC title since 2011, is fourth of 10 teams with 23 points.  Otterbein University is the leader after day one of competition with 46 points.

Gallavan, who is the defending OAC Indoor Thrower of the Year, uccessfully defended her weight throw title with an OAC-record and Dyson Baudo Recreation Center record mark of 60 feet and two inches, which she set on her very first throw of the competition.  She now has earned five All-OAC indoor accolades.

In addition, junior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) earned her first All-OAC honor as she placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 52'10".  Senior All-OAC thrower Maggey Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) was fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 49'10".  Senior jumper Abby Snow (Massillon/Jackson) was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 16'10.75". 

In relay action, the distance medley team of sophomore Bailee D'Amore (McDonald), junior Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights), junior Rachel Holowecky (Amherst/Firelands) and sophomore Maeve Christie (Lakewood) took eighth in a time of 14.11.93.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 27 for the second and final day of competition at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at 10 a.m.
