Winters and Urban Set Two OAC Records as Women's Team Finishes Fourth at OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio --  Senior five-time outdoor All-American multi-event athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Maggey Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) won a combined three titles and set two OAC records as the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team placed fourth at at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.

Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) as she won the high jump, the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash to earn her 12th outdoor All-OAC honor and her 12th OAC title. Winters had a mark of 5 feet and 5.25 inches in the high jump, an OAC-record time of 14.36 in the 100-meter hurdles and had a time of 12.45 in the 100-meter dash.  For her effort, Winters was selected as the Marcia French Most Outstanding Sprinter/Hurdler and Guido Ricevutto Co-Most Outstanding Field Athlete.

Urban successfully defender her hammer throw title as she won the event with an OAC-record mark of 178'5". For her strong performances, Urban was selected was the Co-Most  Outstanding Field Athlete. 

The eighth-nationally ranked Yellow Jackets was fourth of 10 teams with 111.5 points.  The University of Mount Union won its seventh straight title with 178 points.

In addition, senior sprinter Kelsey Nemeth (Medina) was second in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 26.28 in the 200-meter and a time of 13.00 in the 100-meter to earn her first outdoor All-OAC honor. Junior jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) was third in the high jump and fifth in the triple jump with a high jump mark of 5'4.25" and a mark of 34'5.5" in the triple jump to earn her first outdoor All-OAC honor. Junior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) was third in the shot put with a career-best mark of 40'4" to earn her third outdoor All-OAC accolade. Junior thrower Natasha Thomas (Cleveland/Holy Name) was seventh in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 138'8".

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of junior Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva), Kelsey Nemeth, freshman Grace Nemeth (Medina) and junior Rachel Holowecky (Amherst/Firelands) took fifth in a time of 49.75.  The 4x400-meter team of Armstrong, junior Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights), sophomore Maeve Christie (Lakewood) and sophomore Carlynn Arthur (Danville) took seventh in a time of 4:22.36.

BW is back in action on Monday, May 16 when select members of the team travel to Delaware to compete in the Ron Althoff Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on the George Gauthier Track.

The 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be contested on Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 in Waverly, Iowa hosted by Wartburg College.
