Women's Tracksters Place Seventh at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished seventh at the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.

BW was seventh of 18 teams with 52 points.  Ohio Wesleyan was the champion with 122 points.

The Yellopw Jackets were led by senior All-American multi-event athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) as she won both the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash.  Winters had an All-Ohio Championships-record time of 14.02 seconds in the 100-hurdles, which .01 seconds off tying the BW record.   She had a season-best time of 24.51 in the 200-meter.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Maggey Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) was the runner-up in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 168'4".

Junior jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) won the in high jump with a mark of 5'3.75", was fourth in long jump with a career-best mark of 17'8" and was eighth in triple jump with a career-best mark of 35'3.75".  

Junior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) was fifth in the discus with a mark of 127'8". J

Junior hurdler Lindsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 15.49. 

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Armstrong, senior sprinter Kelsey Nemeth (Medina), freshman sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) and senior sprinter/jumper Abby Snow (Massillon/Jackson) finished eighth in a time of 49.87.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 when it hosts the 47th annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside the George Finnie Stadium.  The hammer throw will only be contested Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.  The remainder of the meet will be on Saturday with the fist events scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30 hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.
