Gallavan named USTFCCCA Women's Track Regional MVP; Two Others Named to All-GLR Team

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University senior two-time Division III All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Kenston) was named the 2016 USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field  Cross Country Coaches Association) Division III Great Lakes Regional Women's Field Athlete of the Year. She is joined by twe other Yellow Jacket women's indoor track and field student-athletes on the All-Great Lakes Region team.  Click here for the full list of USTFCCCA Regional Award winners.

Gallavan was the Division III Great Lakes Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. In addition, senior Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) and junior high jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/ Steele) joined Gallavan on the team. Click here for the full list of USTFCCCA Regional team members.

Gallavan is a two-time Division III All-American and will compete this weekend at the Div. III national meet at Grinnell (Iowa) College in the weight throw (ranked second in Div. III) and shot put (sixth). The multiple All-Ohio and Ohio Athletic Conference champion was this year's OAC Most Valuable Field Athlete for the second straight year. She also earned All-Great Lakes Region honors and owns a school-record toss in the weight throw (60'11.5") and had a career-best in the shot put (46'3.25"). She earned All-GLR honors for the second straight season.

Winters enters this weekend's NCAA Division III National Championship Meet as a seven-time Division III All-American and one of five Yellow Jackets who will be competing for a national title. The multiple All-Ohio and Ohio Athletic Conference champion and OAC and Great Lakes Region award-winner received All-Great Lakes Region honors in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88 seconds), 60-meter dash (7.75 seconds), 200-meter dash (25.68 seconds), high jump (5'8.75"), long jump (18'11.25") and five-event pentathlon (3,651 points). She owns school records in all six events and is qualified in four events for the NCAA Championship Meet and will compete in the 60-meter hurdles (tied for fourth), high jump (tied for first) and long jump (tied for second). She will not compete in the pentathlon (first).

Kasper
is also having her best season as a collegian. She earned All-OAC and All-GLR honors and had a career-best leap of 5'6.5" at last weekend's Ohio Northern University Polar Bear "Last Chance" Meet.

The 2016 NCAA Division III National Meet begins on Friday, March 11 and concludes on Saturday, March 12.
