Women's Track and Field Team Places Second at 47th Sparky Adams Invitational

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams each placed second at the 47th Annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside the George Finnie Stadium. The meet consisted of one NCAA Division I school, three NCAA Division II schools, six NCAA Division III schools and one junior college program.

The third-nationally ranked Yellow Jacket women's team was second of 11 teams with 122.5 points.  The University of Mount Union was the team champion with 148 points.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by senior five-time outdoor All-American multi-event athlete Melanie Winters(Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) as she won the 100-meter dash, high jump and long jump   Winters had a season-best time of 12.22 in the 100-meter, a mark of 5 feet and 5.75 inches in the high jump and a school-record mark of 19'5.5" in the long jump.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Maggey Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) won the hammer throw, was fourth in the discus and was fifth in the javelin.  Urban had a season-best mark of 172'8" in the hammer, a season-best mark of 119' in the discus and a career-best mark of 92'10" in the javelin.

Junior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) won the discus and was second in the shot put.  Clouse had a season-best mark of 136'10" in the discus and a mark of 37'11.5".

Junior hurdler/sprinter Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 15.25.  

Junior jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) was second in the high jump and sixth in the long jump.  Kasper had a mark of 5'4.5" in the high jump, a mark of 16'7.75" in the long jump.

Sophomore thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) was third in the hammer and eighth in the shot put.  Ziccardi had a mark of 135'2" in the hammer and a mark of 33'2.5" in the shot put. 

Freshman vaulter Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa. / Meadville) was fourth in the pole vault with a career-best mark of 9'0.5". 

Junior thrower Natasha Thomas(Cleveland/Holy Name) was fifth in the shot put and seventh in the hammer throw.  Thomas had a season-best mark of 35'1.25" in the shot put and 128'3 in the hammer. 

Freshman sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in a career-best time of 12.83.

Senior jumper Marissa Hellisz (Parma/Normandy) took seventh in the long jump with a season-best mark of 16'7". 

Senior Kelsey Nemeth (Medina) was seventh in the 200-meter dash in a career-best time of 26.11.   

Junior multi-event athlete Rachel Holowecky (Amherst/Firelands) was seventh in the javelin with a mark of 80'6".  

Sophomore Maeve Christie (Lakewood) finished seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:26.74.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter relay team of ArmstrongKelsey NemethGrace Nemeth and Holowecky took third in a time of 49.70.
