Gallavan Named USTFCCCA Outstanding Field Performer of NCAA Indoor Championships

NEW ORLEANS – Baldwin Wallace University senior two-time NCAA Division III Champion and three-time indoor All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) has been selected as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women's Field Outstanding Performer of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Gallavan earned the honor after winning both the throwing events at last weekend's championships.  She won the weight throw on Friday afternoon with a school-record mark of 62 feet and nine inches.   Gallavan closed out her successful weekend by winning the shot put on Saturday with a school-record mark of 48'3. 25".  Gallavan won her first career NCAA titles and earned two more All-American accolades.   She was responsible for scoring 20 of BW's 42.2 points enroute to the school's first-ever indoor national title.

In addition to her success at the NCAA Championships, Gallavan was named the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Women's Field Athlete of the Year and to the All-Great Lakes Region team for the second time.  She was the Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in both shot put and weight throw for the second straight season.   Gallavan earned the OAC Phil Gordon Indoor Outstanding Female Field Athlete for the second consecutive year.   She set the All-Ohio Division III Championships-record, OAC-record, school-record and Marietta College Dyson Baudo Recreation Center in the weight throw.   Gallavan also set the school-record in the weight throw.

The BW outdoor track and field teams open the 2016 season on Saturday, March 19 when they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana to compete in the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Early Bird Invitational at 12:30 p.m.
