#5 Women's Indoor Track and Field Wins Bob Shannon Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The fifth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field teams won the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison University in the Mitchell Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jackets were first of 10 teams with 134.5 points.

BW was led by senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference jumper Abby Snow (Massillon/Jackson) and senior indoor All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) as each won two events.   Snow won the long jump and triple jump with career-best marks of 17 feet and 2.25 inches and 34'7.5", respectively.  Gallavan won the shot put with a Mitchell Fieldhouse record mark of 43'9.25" and won the weight throw with a meet record and Mitchell Fieldhouse mark of 56'11.25".

In addition, junior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.98 seconds.  Armstrong ran a career-best 8.96 in the prelims. Senior sprinter Kelsey Nemeth (Medina) won the 200-meter dash in a career-best time of 26.79 and was third in the 60-meter dash in a career-best time of 8.15.

Senior thrower Maggey Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) was second in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 54'11.5". Freshman sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in a career-best time of 27.59. Junior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) was third in the long jump with a mark of 16'7.75" and was third in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 33'3". Junior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) was third in the shot put and weight throws.  Clouse had a career-best mark of 39'3.75" in the shot and a career-best mark of 51.0.25" in the weight throw.  Sophomore Maeve Christie (Lakewood) was third in the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 2:29.10. 

In relay action, the 4x200-meter relay team of Kelsey Nemeth, Grace Nemeth, sophomore sprinter Carlynn Arthur (Danville) and Armstrong won in a time of 1:51.27.

The BW multi-event athletes are in action tomorrow, Sunday, February 7 as the compete in the All-Ohio Division III Combined Events Championships hosted by Denison University in the Mitchell Fieldhouse at 12 p.m.

The full Yellow Jacket indoor track and field teams are back in action on Friday, February 12 when they host the annual Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.   Field events begin at 4 p.m. with running events slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
