ALLENDALE, Michigan – Senior All-American and All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) competed in three events at the NCAA Division II Grand Valley State (Mich.) University Last Chance Meet inside the Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium.
Gallavan, who has had limited competition to an injury, also competed Friday at the Allegheny (Pa.) College Gator Invitational. She is trying to improve upon or hit the qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
Gallavan, the NCAA Division III indoor champion in weight throw and shot put, was fifth in the shot put, seventh in the hammer throw and 12th in the discus. She had a mark of 43'2.5'' in the shot put, 163'9'' in the hammer throw and 143'10'' in the discus.
Gallavan and the rest of the BW men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Wednesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 19 when they travel to Naperville, Illinois to compete in the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College. The Yellow Jackets will also compete on Thursday, May 19 at the Great Lakes Elite Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.
The 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be contested on Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 in Waverly, Iowa hosted by Wartburg College.
