Volleyball Team Falls 3-0 to Heidelberg in OAC Tournament Quarterfinals

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team fell 3-0 to Heidelberg College in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match tonight (Tuesday, November 4, 2008) in Sieberling Gymnasium in Tiffin.  Heidelberg won by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 29-27.

With the loss, B-W, the No. 7 seed ends the season with a record of 13-21.  With the win, Heidelberg, the No. 2 seed, improves to 29-6 and advances to Friday's OAC Semifinals.  Fans can access all of the latest OAC Volleyball Tournament information at http://www.oac.org/WOMENvolleyballTournament.shtml

The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y. / Mt. St. Mary Academy) with nine kills. In addition, Chelsea Nissen (Williston / Genoa) and Kayli Tyson (Olmstead Twp. / Olmstead Falls) both recorded six kills.  Tyson and sophomore setter Casey Passen (Ashville / Teays Valley) each had 11 set assists apiece.

Defensively, B-W was led by sophomore libero Lissy Grame (Berea) and freshman Nicole Schoen (Bellevue), who recorded 16 and 10 digs, respectively.

DePeters finishes her career in fifth place on the all-time BW list with 1,405 kills and 156 services aces. She also ranks third all-time in school history with 187 block solos.
