Volleyball Team Falls 3-1 to JCU on -Dig For The Cure- Night

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to visiting John Carroll University, 3-1, at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea today (October 7, 2008). 

With its loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 8-12 overall and 0-4 in the OAC while John Carroll improves to 13-7 overall and 1-1 in the OAC. B-W next plays at the Washington University Invitational this weekend, October 10-11. The Yellow Jackets will face Christopher Newport (Va.) and Illinois Wesleyan at 3:00 and 5:15 CST on Saturday and Endicott (Mass.) and Williams (Mass.) at 12:15 and 2:30 CST on Sunday. 

Against John Carroll, B-W was led offensively by senior Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y. / Mt. St. Mary Academy) with 12 kills.  Freshman Chelsea Nissen (Williston / Genoa) also chipped in with 10.  In addition, sophomore setter Casey Passen (Ashville / Teays Valley) led the way with 33 set assists.

On defense, freshman libero Danielle Gerwin (Bowling Green) led the team with 15 digs and sophomoreLissy Grame (Berea) had 12.
