Volleyball Team Falls 3-0 at Ohio Northern in OAC Finale

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University tonight (Tuesday, October 28, 2008) at the ONU Sports Center in Ada. The Yellow Jackets lost to the Polar Bears, ranked eighth in the nation, by scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-17.

With the loss B-W falls to 11-18 overall and 2-7 in the OAC.  ONU improves to 26-4 overall and remains perfect in the OAC with a record of 8-0.

B-W was led offensively by four-year starting senior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y. / Mt. St. Mary Academy) with eight kills and sophomore middle hitter Abbey Thompson (Lorain/Clearview) with five.  In addition, sophomore setter Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) recorded 17 set assists.

On defense, freshman Chelsea Nissen (Williston/Genoa) led with 13 digs, and was followed by junior Kayli Tyson (Olmsted Twp./Olmsted Falls) with nine.

B-W will return to action Friday, October 31 at the two-day Calvin/Hope Midwest Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to take on Manchester (Ind.) College at 11:00 a.m. and Hope (Mich.) College at 1:30 p.m.
