Clark is OAC Champion and Three Records Set on Day Two of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams moved into fourth place after two days of competition at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Swimming & Diving Meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.  BW is the host school.

The Yellow Jacket women have 296 points and stand fourth of seven teams.  Ohio Northern leads the women's standings.

The BW women were led by freshman diver Alice Clark (Fairview Park/Fairview) who was the OAC 1-meter champion with a season-best 420.20 points. Sophomore diver Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) earned All-OAC honors as she finished second with a season-best 403.50 points.

The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Emma Gerdes (Avon), senior All-OAC freestyler Angela Musille(Canton/GlenOak), sophomore Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) and junior Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich. /Plymouth-Canton) finished fourth in a school-record time of 1:49.50.  The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Ashbaugh, Musille, Gerdes and Eyster finished fourth and set the school-record with a time of 4:01.02.

In addition, Musille placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 1:07.13.  She had the second fastest qualifying time with 1:07.14. Ashbaugh finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of time of 59.86.  Gerdes took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in a school-record time of 59.08.  She had the seventh fastest qualifying time in prelims with 1:00.18. Eyster (Canton, Mich. /Plymouth-Canton) placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:00.17.  She had the sixth fastest qualifying time with 2:00.19. Senior Caitlin Wilson (Wycombe, Pa./Council Rock North) finished ninth in the 400-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 5:00.13.   Freshman Becca Weil (Ypsilanti, Mich./Milan) took 10th in the 200-free in a season-best mark of 2:04.37. 

The Yellow Jackets compete in the final day of competition on Saturday, February 15 with the prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
