UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University womens swimming and diving team lost in dual meet competition to Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the William H. Johnson Natatorium inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

The Yellow Jacket women lost to the Blue Streaks, 145.5-139.5, to fall to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the OAC.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket women was senior Emma Gerdes (Avon) as she won the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstrokes in a times of 1:03.05 and 2:16.68 respectively.  Geredes was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team along with seniors Angela Musille (Canton/GlenOak) and Kayla Miller (Van Wert) and sophomore Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) as they finished in a time of 1:54.92.   

Ashbaugh also was a two-time winner as she captured the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.03.

In diving, freshman Alice Clark (Fairview Park/Fairview) and sophomore diver Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving respectively.  Clark captured the event with a season and career-best 401.25 points and Fortune won with 255.30 points.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, January 31 when they travel to Defiance, Ohio to compete in an OAC match against Defiance College at 6:00 p.m.  BW also competes on Saturday, February 1 at cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at 1:00 p.m.

BW is the host school for the 2013-2014 OAC Championship Meet from February 13-15 at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
