OBERLIN, Ohio– The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team lost today to The College of Wooster, 310-161, in the first round of the Second Annual Cleveland College Dual Meet Championships at Oberlin College.
The scoring for the meet was a combined team score instead of separate men's and women's scores.
The women were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC standout Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) and freshman diver Alice Clark (Fairview Park/Fairview). Musille who won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.45 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.23. Clark won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with point totals of 213.25 and 215.50, respectively.
In addition, sophomore Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.38 and second the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.80, senior Emma Gerdes (Avon) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.66, senior Kayla Miller (Van Wert) placed second in the 50-yard free in 27.15 seconds, freshman Brianna Kljun (Columbia Station/ Magnificat) was second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with point totals of 210.40 and 214.10, respectively, and the 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Gerdes, Musille, Miller and Ashbaugh were second in 1:55.67.
Following tomorrow's second round at the Cleveland College meet, BW is off until Saturday, Nov. 9 when it competes in the third and final round. The next home meet is on December 14 when BW hosts Ursuline University in a women's-only dual meet in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center at 12:00 noon.
