AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams set three school records and stand in fifth place after the first day of competition at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Swimming & Diving Meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. BW is the host school.
The BW women were led by senior All-OAC freestyler Angela Musille (Canton/GlenOak) who finished fourth in the 500-freestyle in a school record and season-best time of 5:15.03. Musille had the second fastest qualifying time in prelims with a mark of 5:15.51.
Ashbaugh and Gerdes finished sixth and eighth respectively in the 200-yard individually medley. Ashbaugh set the school-record in the finals with a season-best time of 2:12.97. Gerdes finished with a season-best time of 2:14.32. Eyster was 10th in the 500-free with a season-best time of 5:23.31.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Friday, February 14 on the second day of competition at the OAC Championship Meet in Akron. The preliminary competition begins at 10 a.m. with the finals for those events contested at 6 p.m. The final day of competition is Saturday, February 15 with the prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
