BW Women Swimmers Fall to Case

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's  swimming and diving team ended its dual meet season today (Friday, February 1, 2013) when they lost in a non-league dual to Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.

The BW women fell to the CWRU women, 122-108. With its loss, the BW women end the dual meet season at 4-9 overall.

The BW women were led by senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American and six-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Hts/Brecksville-Broadview Hts) who placed first in both the one-meter voluntary and 1-meter optional dives with scores of 188.55 and 281.90 points, respectively.

In addition to Pinter, juniors Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), junior Emma Gerdes (Avon/ Senior) and freshman Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) finished first individually. Musille, an All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC competitor, won the 50-yard breastroke in 32.17 seconds. Gerdes, who also is All-OAC, took first in the 50-yard backstroke in 29.91 seconds. Ashbaugh finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.08. Also, Musille, Gerdes and Ashbaugh combined with junior teammate Kayla Miller (Van Wert) to win the women's 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.06.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on February 8-10 when they travel to Columbus to compete at The Ohio State University Invitational Meet.
