BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team beats Penn State Behrend University today in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
The BW women, now 2-4 overall, defeated the Lion women, 172-83.
The BW women were led by junior Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak). She won both the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes with times of 1:11.19 and 2:35.12 respectively, along with the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:20.00.
In addition, senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American and six-time NCAA Division III All-American senior diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) won both the 1-meter voluntary and 1-meter optional diving events. She won the voluntary event with 188.50 points and captured the optional event with 261.85 points. Junior Caitlin Wilson (Wycombe, Pa. / Council Rock North) won the 1000-yard and the 500-yard freestyles with times of 11:55.72 and 5:56.52, respectively. Emma Gerdes (Avon) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.89 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.84. Sophomore Carli Dugan (Mentor) placed first in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle with times of 27.02 and 59.97, respectively. Freshman Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.99 along with the 200-yard buterfly 2:24.07. Sophomore Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth-Canton) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.00.
Along with these victorious individuals, the women's 400-yard Medley Relay team consisting of Gerdes, Musille, Ashbraugh, and Dugan finished first with a time of 4:16.34. Also the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team consisting of Eyster, Wilson, Junior Emily Deaton (Spanaway, Wash. / Graham-Kapowsin), and Ashbraugh won with a time of 4:04.81.
The Yellow Jackets are idle now until November 30 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to compete at the 3-day (Nov. 30 through December 2) Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational Meet.
